Aimal Wali Khan, Abid Sher Ali Clash on Social Media Over Possible Governor’s Rule in KP

ISLAMABAD: A war of words has erupted on social media between Awami National Party (ANP) Central President Aimal Wali Khan and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Abid Sher Ali over the possibility of imposing governor’s rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The exchange took place on social media platform X as political tensions continued over the situation in the province. Aimal Wali Khan has publicly opposed any move to impose governor’s rule or emergency, calling such measures undemocratic.

In his post, Aimal Wali Khan said the imposition of governor’s rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be an entirely undemocratic step and that the ANP would not support it.

He further argued that politics based on principles and struggle was more powerful than a majority allegedly created through “Form 47” manipulation. He said a party from Punjab that had allegedly come to power through Form 47 had no right to interfere in the affairs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Responding to Aimal Wali Khan, PML-N leader Senator Abid Sher Ali said that no decision had yet been taken on the matter and questioned why Aimal was offering advice.

“You were not asked for advice,” Abid Sher Ali said, while claiming that the ANP was merely a one-seat party and that even that seat was dependent on the Pakistan Peoples Party.

Aimal Wali Khan responded by reiterating that his party’s struggle was for the Constitution, security and the federation, adding that its ideological politics was not for sale.

The exchange comes amid continuing discussion at the federal level over possible constitutional measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Federal officials have publicly discussed options including emergency measures and governor’s rule, although reports have indicated that no final decision had been confirmed as of September 30.
