Imran Khan’s Release Order Is to Come from the Courts, Not from Marching on or Attacking Islamabad: Senator Rana Sanaullah

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Senator Rana Sanaullah has said that Imran Khan’s release order is to come from the courts, not from marching on or attacking Islamabad. In the past two and a half years, no work has been done in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking on a program on Hum News, he said that governor’s rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not a preferred action, but when a province’s government insists that it will carry out violent actions in the country and province using its governmental power, will not fulfill its constitutional and legal responsibilities, and instead the provincial government will march against its own federal government, then in such a situation the Constitution gives the federal government the path of governor’s rule or emergency so that the country can be saved from a violent situation, and the powers of such a provincial government involved in violent actions can be withdrawn.

Rana Sanaullah said that in the past two and a half years, or rather the past one year since Sohail Afridi became Chief Minister, he has done no work. He has done no work of public welfare, construction, or development in the province. Rather, he himself says that doing work of public welfare, construction, and development is not his mandate; his mandate is only to get Imran Khan released. Then he should go to the courts. Imran Khan’s release order is to come from the courts. Imran Khan will not be released by marching on or attacking Islamabad. This action of the KP government is not in accordance with the Constitution and law.

If they insist on this and continue this action, then the responsibility the Constitution gives to the federal government will make it an unavoidable situation to take this action. The Prime Minister’s first preference is still that the KP government bring itself within the constitutional and legal framework and refrain from unlawful actions.
