PPP Will Not Support Governor’s Rule or Emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Merely Because of Long March: Nasir Hussain Shah

Karachi (Qudrat Daily) — Sindh Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will not support governor’s rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa merely because of a long march. Speaking to the media, he said that if something is emerging suggesting that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is not performing its duties regularly, and if any such thing comes to light, then nothing can be said about governor’s rule or emergency.
Nasir Hussain Shah said that, however, merely because of a long march, the PPP will not support governor’s rule or emergency. Similarly, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar has said that if the Balochistan government plans an attack on the federation, the same situation will arise.
Responding to a question during a media interaction in Islamabad — “Will governor’s rule also be imposed in Balochistan?” — he said that the Balochistan government is not organizing government machinery to attack the federation.
He said that if the Balochistan government refuses to cooperate, stops supporting security forces, and plans an attack on the federation, then the same situation will arise. Speaking to the media after a meeting, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that the PPP is an ally of the government and has been taken into confidence. He clarified that no discussion took place in today’s meeting regarding the imposition of emergency or governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Law Minister said that his stance on governor’s rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains the same as before. According to him, the final decision on this matter will be made by the President and the Prime Minister, while all constitutional and legal requirements will be taken into consideration for it.
Regarding the release of any person, including the PTI founder, Azam Nazir Tarar said that the order for release is to be given by the court, not by the government. The parties will present their respective positions before the court on the release petitions.
