PTI Leader Shaukat Yousafzai Breaks Down During Live Show Amid Social Media Criticism

Peshawar:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Secretary Shaukat Yousafzai became emotional during a live television program while discussing social media trolling and criticism following his letter to the party leadership regarding the postponement of the planned long march.

Yousafzai said that as a senior party member, he had expressed his concerns in the letter. He added that he was hurt by remarks made by KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi regarding the letter, saying he had not expected such a response from him.

He said that when Afridi announced the long march for October 4, he had stated that he would be among the first to participate. However, he expressed disappointment over the language used against him on social media.

Yousafzai said that those who had remained with PTI after May 9 had gone through difficult circumstances and deserved respect.

While responding to allegations against him during the program, Yousafzai became tearful and said that questions were being raised about whether he had been “bought off.” He said he was speaking on the basis of principles and had no reason to be afraid.

The PTI leader also said he had defended Afridi against allegations that he was facilitating terrorists.

Yousafzai recalled that he had expressed similar concerns during the November 26 protest. He said that the activities of some social media activists were causing harm to the party.

He rejected speculation that he could leave PTI, saying there was no question of him quitting the party.
