All Legal Requirements for Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Have Been Met: Amir Muqam

Peshawar (Qudrat Daily) — Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam has said that due to the continuous illegal actions and failures of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, all constitutional and legal requirements for governor’s rule in the province have been fulfilled, and a major political decision could be taken at any time.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, he said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been facing terrorism for a long time, and all of Pakistan can see how many sacrifices the people here are making. However, he said, the PTI’s “change government” only changed chief ministers over 13 years and did not change the fate of the people. The current Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, has no experience, he said, and was given only two targets — loot as much as you can, and secure the release of a prisoner. He added that education, health, and basic facilities are nowhere to be found in the province.
Amir Muqam further said that serious questions arise over the statements of PTI’s leadership. “Our security personnel are sacrificing their lives, but why do terrorist incidents not occur at PTI’s gatherings and rallies?” he asked. He said it is evident from Sohail Afridi’s style of governance that the provincial government has colluded with terrorists, and today their rule has been established across the entire province. He alleged that this government wants to make the police subordinate to it, from the IG down to the DSP, and to put a price on police stations so that it can lower the morale of the police and achieve its political objectives.
The federal minister claimed that the long march of September 27 was postponed until October 4 because secret reports indicated that the public was not ready to come out on the streets, after which Sohail Afridi went to former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for help. He said it has become impossible for Sohail Afridi to move forward, and he can no longer remain chief minister — either governor’s rule will be imposed, or after being removed from the office of chief minister, he will go straight to jail on charges of looting. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had spoken of a Charter of Economy even while in opposition, but no negotiations can be held on the single-point agenda of a convicted prisoner and criminal.
