Consultations Held on Imposing Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Faisal Karim Kundi

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said that consultations have been held regarding the imposition of Governor’s Rule in the province.
Speaking to the media, Kundi criticized the provincial government over its proposed changes to the police structure, saying KP police personnel receive the lowest salaries and that the government was seeking to bring the police under its control.
He said the provincial government wanted to turn the police into a “Tiger Force” and sought control over the appointments of inspectors general, deputy inspectors general and district police officers.
Kundi said he would oppose such legislation and “stand as a wall” against it. He also said that Governor’s Rule was being discussed in the context of the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Regarding the PTI’s announced long march towards Islamabad, the KP governor questioned the party’s preparations and claimed that its lawmakers were currently in Islamabad while the party had made little practical preparation for the march.
He further alleged that PTI leaders were seeking arrests and attempting to avoid participating in the march.
Kundi’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions surrounding the PTI’s planned march towards Islamabad and ongoing debate over the political and constitutional situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
