Video of US Troops Cleaning Red Carpet for Chinese President Xi Jinping Goes Viral

WASHINGTON: A video showing US military personnel cleaning and straightening a red carpet shortly before Chinese President Xi Jinping’s arrival has gone viral on social media, sparking considerable discussion in the United States.
The brief footage shows military personnel at Joint Base Andrews using their hands to clean and adjust the red carpet just moments before Xi’s arrival. The carpet was reportedly around 30 metres long.
Xi Jinping arrived in the United States for a three-day visit hosted by US President Donald Trump. His official welcome included a 21-gun salute, the national anthems of China and the United States, a guard of honour and an aerial display featuring B-1 bombers, F-16s and F-22 fighter jets.
The short video of US troops carefully preparing the red carpet attracted significant attention on American social media platforms.
Some critics described the scene as an unusual aspect of the diplomatic welcome, while the footage quickly became a topic of discussion online.
