Six Houthi Ballistic Missiles Intercepted in Air, Saudi Authorities Say

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s defence and security authorities have announced that an anticipated threat has been averted after six ballistic missiles launched by Houthi forces were successfully intercepted and destroyed in the air.

According to the latest statement issued by Saudi Civil Defence, emergency early-warning alerts issued for the holy city of Makkah, the coastal cities of Jeddah and Yanbu, the northwestern region of Tabuk, and Taif have now been lifted. Authorities said the anticipated threat had been brought under control.

Arab Coalition Forces spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki said the Houthi forces had launched six ballistic missiles targeting areas including Taif and Yanbu.

He said Saudi air defence systems responded promptly and successfully intercepted all six missiles before they could reach their intended targets, preventing any loss of life or property.

Al-Malki strongly condemned the Houthi missile launches and warned that violations and escalatory actions of this nature would be met with a firm response.

The coalition spokesperson said the Houthi militia would face what he described as a strong and decisive response to such serious violations and escalation.
