PM Shehbaz Reaffirms Pakistan’s Support for Saudi Arabia’s Sovereignty and Holy Sites

ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the holy sites.

In a message on the occasion of Saudi Arabia’s 96th National Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan.

The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding relationship, strategic partnership and cooperation between the two countries.

He said the brotherly ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are rooted in shared faith, mutual trust and strong people-to-people relations. He described Saudi Arabia’s historic development and reform journey as a source of pride and inspiration for Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said Pakistan has always taken pride in its enduring and time-tested friendship with Saudi Arabia. He added that the signing of the strategic mutual defence agreement and the historic Makkah joint defence agreement reflects the two countries’ unwavering commitment to their security.

He said the security of the Holy Mosques and the land of the Two Holy Mosques is a matter deeply connected to the faith of Muslims around the world.

The prime minister strongly condemned attempts by the Houthi rebels to target Makkah with drones and missiles, saying Pakistan has consistently denounced such attempts in the strongest terms.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to stand firmly with Saudi Arabia in protecting its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the sanctity of the holy sites.
