Kohat Police Lines Blast: 869kg of Explosives Used, Bomb Disposal Unit Report Reveals

KOHAT:The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) has submitted a detailed report on the blast at Kohat Police Lines to the Central Police Office, providing details about the explosives used and the subsequent attack.
According to the report, the blast site was identified and the type and quantity of the explosive material were assessed. The visible dimensions of the blast crater were recorded as **6.6 feet by 11 feet**, with a depth of **4.6 feet**.
The report stated that a total of **869 kilograms of explosive material** was used in the blast. The initial identification of the vehicle allegedly used in the attack has also been made.
According to the BDU report, unexploded explosive material was recovered from inside the Special Branch building. **Two improvised explosive devices (IEDs)** were recovered from the ground floor, while a **suicide vest containing four IEDs** was recovered from the first floor.
The report further stated that following the explosion, the attackers entered the old Kohat Police Lines and launched an armed assault. The attackers subsequently took fortified positions inside the Special Branch block.
The incident took place on **September 18**, when a suicide attack targeted a mosque at Kohat Police Lines during Friday prayers. The attack reportedly killed **22 people, including police personnel, and injured more than 100 others**.
