“Talk of Dividing Provinces — One Individual in the Government Is Speaking; Who Is He?”: Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that talk of dividing the provinces is being done by one individual in the government — who is he? Mohsin Naqvi is a servant of that person’s household; he should do that job, wash their dishes and clothes — that is his duty. He has nothing to do with the country’s problems.

Speaking to the media, he said that one part of the government is talking about dividing the provinces, and the government and government parties are silent! But one individual of theirs is speaking — who is he? What is his status within the country, what is his identity? He is a servant of that person’s household; he should serve in their house, wash their dishes and clothes — that is his duty. He has nothing to do with the country’s problems.

We are not so helpless either that you keep playing with the country and we keep watching the spectacle. If the situation does not permit it, Pakistan cannot bear new problems. Everything should be taken to a limit; if you go beyond the limit, then others will also go beyond the limit.

For now, the country is with you; the people, political and religious parties are with Pakistan. One becomes an agent of RAW, another becomes an agent of Afghanistan, another becomes an agent of Iran — only these people are Pakistanis. Just as the Khawarij call only themselves Muslims, in the same way our powerful ones also call only themselves Pakistanis and consider no one besides themselves a Pakistani. These attitudes are becoming intolerable; the government should reflect on this. If there are assemblies and governments, then their writ should also be visible, and no one should challenge their authority — otherwise, then everyone will challenge everyone else’s authority.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that without JUI, a government cannot be formed, and if formed, it cannot function. If the Peoples Party separates from the government, then it will be a minority government. The opposition is not currently in a position to bring a no-confidence motion. We will fight for the provinces’ rights in accordance with the Constitution. Inflation has increased in the country, and the people’s suffering is not being remedied. When some parties announced protest, Islamabad was filled with containers. The agreement with Saudi Arabia should be taken forward, and Egypt and Iran should have been included in the agreement.

Speaking to the media, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that if the Peoples Party separates from the government, then it will be a minority government. He said that the opposition is not currently in a position to bring a no-confidence motion; there is no thinking on this as yet, nor has a no-confidence motion been considered — however, if a no-confidence motion comes, we will support it. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the parliamentary system of government is not being allowed to stabilize, and we all have a problem with the economy and inflation.

According to a news agency, the JUI chief said that we have repeatedly said that there is no government writ in two provinces. If you go to Sindh, there are street crimes there as well. If you go to Balochistan, banks are looted in broad daylight. There is no system that can protect banks or citizens. He said that yesterday one of our senators was stopped at the airport and could not go to China, and in our province, ministers are stopped on the road.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that inflation has increased in the country, and the people’s suffering is not being remedied. When some parties announced protest, Islamabad was filled with containers. He said that the agreement with Saudi Arabia should be taken forward, and Egypt and Iran should have been included in the agreement. He said that we have spoken of the rights of the provinces; the owners of a province’s resources are the people of that province, and we will fight for the provinces’ rights in accordance with the Constitution.
