“Will We Back Down Because Imran Khan’s Sisters Were Abducted? That Is Their Mistake — We Will Come with Even More Force”: Sohail Afridi

Peshawar (Qudrat Daily) — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that will we back down because Imran Khan’s sisters were abducted? That is their mistake — we will come with even more force. The September 27 long march will take place at all costs. When our voice is not being heard through legal channels, then what other option do we have besides protest? Speaking at a press conference at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar alongside senior party leaders, he said that when Nawaz Sharif falls ill, these same courts say that if anything happens to him, the government will be responsible, and when he returns, the courts reach the airport — even though he is a convicted criminal who went away after looting the nation’s money. On the other hand, a political party is being treated like a stepmother; if state institutions do not support it, if injustice is done to it, if it is not dealt with according to the law, then it will inevitably turn to protest.
And the Constitution and the law permit this protest. If they want to stop it, they should remove that provision from the Constitution. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that on September 27 we will come with full force. If they try to fail this movement by abducting Imran Khan’s sisters and family, that will not happen. If they carry out a terrorist attack on Shakeel Khan by men in plain clothes, if they carry out a terrorist attack on Provincial Minister Shakoor Khan’s vehicle and abduct him, and think the movement will fail — that will not happen; it will only add further life to the movement.

The oppression and tyranny that began on April 9 continues to this day. From innocent Zul Shah to elderly Ijaz Satti, hundreds of our workers have been martyred. After the bullets were fired on November 26, we have adopted all legal avenues to this day, but we received no hearing. The Islamabad High Court’s orders for a meeting with Imran Khan were thrown in the trash. The Supreme Court’s orders to shift Imran Khan to a hospital were blown into the air.
He said that yesterday all three of Imran Khan’s sisters, including their family members and innocent children, were abducted. When our voice is not being heard through any legal channel, then what other option do we have besides protest? The Constitution and the law give us the right to peaceful protest. On this occasion, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said that Tehreek-e-Insaf is a democratic force whose roots are among the people. We were peaceful, we remained peaceful, and we will always remain peaceful.
At this time, Imran Khan — who is the most popular leader of this country — along with his entire family is in jail without any crime. In four years, we were not allowed to hold a single peaceful long march. Their [the PML-N] government held long marches, and the government facilitated them. We are not being given a hearing in the courts; our voice is not being heard in Parliament or the Senate. What are we asking for? Only justice — but it is not available anywhere, so we have given the call for a long march for our rights. What is illegal in that? Fifteen hundred of our workers, five MNAs, MPAs, and a minister have been abducted.
