“Imran Khan Should Be Released” — Boris Johnson

London (Qudrat Daily): Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has demanded the release of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, raised questions over the reasons for his imprisonment, and appealed to the public to join the ongoing campaign for Imran Khan’s release.

In a video message, Boris Johnson said that people should ask why Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been in jail for three years and why he has had to face harsh conditions for a long time.

Presenting his position regarding the cases against Imran Khan and his imprisonment, the former British Prime Minister claimed that, in his view, the reason for Imran Khan’s continued imprisonment is his extraordinary public popularity.

Boris Johnson, while levelling allegations against Pakistan’s military leadership, said he fears that if Imran Khan is released, he could achieve electoral success again in the next elections as a result of the full support of his millions of supporters.

Referring to Imran Khan’s cricket career, he called him one of the greatest cricketers of Pakistan and the world, and said that his public popularity remains intact even today.

Boris Johnson said that keeping a person in jail merely on the apprehension that he could achieve political and electoral success again after release is not acceptable. Terming Imran Khan as elderly and ailing, he demanded his release.

The former British Prime Minister also referred to his article on this matter in the British newspaper ‘Daily Mail’ and appealed to people to read it and join the ongoing campaign for Imran Khan’s release.

Imran Khan’s son, Qasim Khan, also shared Boris Johnson’s video and his article on the social media platform X and thanked the former British Prime Minister for raising his voice in favour of his father.

Qasim Khan and his brother Sulaiman Khan have recently been raising the issue of their father’s imprisonment, health, and the facilities provided to him in jail at the international level.
