Are Friday and Saturday Holidays for Educational Institutions? Education Department Reveals the Truth

Peshawar (Qudrat Daily): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has declared as fake a notification circulating on social media regarding Friday and Saturday weekly holidays in educational institutions.
According to the Education Department, a fake document was being shared on social media, which created ambiguity among students, parents, and teachers regarding the weekly schedule of educational institutions.
The alleged notification had claimed that under fuel-saving measures, government and private educational institutions would remain closed every Friday and Saturday for two months.
The document had also stated that all primary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities in the province would observe holidays on these two days, while teaching activities would continue as usual on the remaining four days.
The Education Department clarified that the document circulating on social media is not an authentic government notification, therefore students and parents should not change their educational routine based on it.
It is noteworthy that during the petroleum crisis in June 2026 as well, educational days had been limited, while special instructions regarding summer camps were issued to compensate for the educational loss.
According to officials, for any new directive or change in the educational schedule at present, only the official statement issued by the Education Department should be considered authentic.
