Trump Says US Will Win War Against Iran, With or Without a Deal
WASHINGTON:US President Donald Trump has said that the United States will win the ongoing war against Iran, whether the conflict ends through a deal or not.
Responding to questions about the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran or deploying additional US troops to the region, Trump said Washington would either reach a “good deal” with Tehran or have no deal at all.
Trump also claimed that US ships were passing through the Strait of Hormuz at night because Iran was unaware of their movements. He further claimed that Iranian radar systems had been destroyed.
The US president said Iran was facing inflation of around 300 per cent and described the country’s economy as being in a condition it had never experienced before.
“Whether through a deal or not, we are going to win this war,” Trump said.
Trump’s latest remarks came a day after he said he hoped the war currently underway in Iran was moving towards an end.
The comments come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran, with the possibility of negotiations and the deployment of additional US military forces remaining subjects of discussion.
