Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi Speaks With Field Marshal Asim Munir
ISLAMABAD:Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during his visit to China, according to Iranian media reports.
The two officials discussed the latest regional developments as well as matters of mutual interest between Iran and Pakistan, the reports said.
The telephone conversation took place while Araghchi was in Beijing for talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. China’s Foreign Ministry had confirmed that Araghchi was visiting Beijing on September 16 for discussions with Wang Yi.
The call comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Iran and other countries in the region. Araghchi and Wang Yi also discussed regional developments and efforts to promote peace and stability during their meeting in Beijing.
Iranian and Pakistani officials have maintained communication over regional developments in recent weeks, with both sides discussing ways to support regional peace and security.
