PIA Flight Declares Emergency Before Landing at Manchester Airport

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-701, travelling from Islamabad to Manchester, declared an emergency around 30 minutes before landing at Manchester Airport after a passenger suffered a medical emergency on board.

According to the available information, the passenger’s condition deteriorated during the flight and immediate medical assistance was required.

At around 7:52pm Pakistan time, the aircraft was flying over the North Sea when the pilots issued the emergency squawk code **7700**, signalling a general emergency. The aircraft remained on the emergency code until it landed at Manchester Airport approximately 30 minutes later, allowing it to receive priority for landing.

After the aircraft touched down at Manchester Airport, emergency response teams and paramedics boarded the plane and provided immediate medical assistance to the affected passenger.

Meanwhile, the **British Royal Air Force (RAF)** dismissed rumours circulating on social media that the PIA aircraft had been intercepted or escorted by a fighter jet.

The RAF did not provide further details when contacted for comment regarding the incident.
