PIMS Hospital Fire: Only Surviving Infant Dies After 14 Children Perish

ISLAMABAD:The only infant who had survived a deadly fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad has died, bringing the number of children who lost their lives in the incident to 15.
The baby, identified as **Ezel**, had been rescued by a nurse during the fire and was subsequently shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment.
Despite efforts to save her, Ezel succumbed to her condition while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The baby’s mother, **Asifa Bibi**, said Ezel was born on August 12 and was six months and 10 days old at the time of the incident. She said the infant had been severely affected by smoke inhalation.
Asifa Bibi said Ezel was the family’s first child, making her death particularly devastating for the family.
