Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Announces Pashtun National Jirga in Chaman on September 19 to Address Target Killings, Insecurity, and Border Trade Issues

Quetta/Chaman (Daily Qudrat) — An important meeting of the district committee of Chaman district was held under the chairmanship of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (Pashtunkhwa MAP) central general secretary Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal. Provincial President Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan and Provincial General Secretary Kabir Afghan specially participated in the meeting. A large number of officials from across the district, presidents of regional primary units, and party workers were present at the meeting. The preparation and arrangements for the expected jirga were a key agenda of the meeting. The main agenda of the meeting was to hold the Pashtun National Jirga of Chaman district in continuation of the Pashtun National Jirga held in Quetta, the central city of southern Pashtunkhwa.

After lengthy consultation, it was unanimously decided that the “Pashtun National Jirga” of Chaman district will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Chaman. The jirga will be presided over by Pashtunkhwa MAP central secretary Nawab Muhammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai. Party leaders shed detailed light on the objectives and importance of the jirga in the current circumstances and said in their addresses that the Chaman jirga is being held in the light of the declaration of the Pashtun National Jirga held from August 30 to September 1, 2026, by the people of southern Pashtunkhwa. Taking forward and conveying to the people the decisions made in the Pashtun National Jirga at the district level is an important need of the time.

Key points of the Chaman Pashtun National Jirga will include formulating a joint course of action against the rising target killings, insecurity, and administrative incompetence in Chaman. There will be discussion on the difficulties faced by traders and ordinary citizens at the Durand Line border and trade, travel documents, and border trade issues. A future strategy will be formulated for the protection of the constitutional, political, and social rights of the Pashtun nation, including the restoration of health, education, employment, trade, and other basic facilities in Chaman. All political, social, religious, and tribal representatives will be brought together on one platform to find a collective solution to Chaman’s problems.

Various committees were formed in the meeting for the successful holding of the jirga. Central General Secretary Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal said that this jirga is not just of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party but of the entire people of Chaman. He strongly appealed to all political parties, the business community, tribal elders, scholars, students, and civil society of Chaman to participate in large numbers on September 19 and fulfill their national responsibility. Provincial President Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan said that “the Quetta jirga has shown us the way. Now it is Chaman’s turn to raise its voice united for its rights.”
