Karak Oil and Gas Fields Record Significant Increase in Production
On the other hand, oil production from five major oil and gas fields located in the southern district of Karak in the resource-rich Kohat Division has recorded an increase of 16 percent, while gas production has recorded an increase of approximately 20 percent during the last financial year 2025-26. The major reason for this is stated to be a significant increase in production from the Makori Deep Oil Field located in Banda Daud Shah Tehsil.
According to a news agency, available annual production data shows that during the financial year 2025-26, a total of 6.73 million barrels of oil was produced from the five fields of Karak and adjoining areas, which is 16.4 percent more than the 5.78 million barrels produced during the financial year 2024-25. According to the data, OGDCL’s Nashpa Field remained the largest oil-producing field in the region with a production of 3.73 million barrels, while MOL’s Makori East Field stood second with a production of 1.99 million barrels.
The most significant increase in oil production was recorded at the Makori Deep Oil Field, where production rose from only 0.01 million barrels in the previous financial year to 0.77 million barrels. A significant overall increase was also recorded in gas production.
