KP CM Sohail Afridi Announces Street Movement in Punjab

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will soon launch a street movement in Punjab, directing the party’s provincial leadership to make arrangements for the campaign.
Addressing an important meeting of PTI Punjab, Afridi instructed organisational leaders to immediately decide where he should visit in Punjab.
“You have one hour. Representatives from all four regions of Punjab should sit together and decide where I should come. The street movement is our constitutional and democratic right, and the decision is yours,” he said.
Rejecting concerns over government restrictions and possible arrests, the KP chief minister said, “Do whatever you want. I am not afraid of them. I will come to Punjab whenever and wherever I want and will personally lead the street movement.”
He said the people of Punjab were waiting for the PTI campaign and urged party workers to demonstrate courage. He added that they were not merely a force of 300 people but represented the voice of around 130 million people.
In an emotional part of his address, Sohail Afridi paid tribute to senior PTI leader Dr Yasmin Rashid for her time in jail and her political struggle.
“We are not more valuable than Dr Yasmin Rashid. She is our most precious asset. If she can endure imprisonment despite her age and illness, we are also ready to go to jail,” he said.
The KP chief minister said imprisonment would not deter the party and described the street movement as its only way forward.
