Negligence Alleged at Quetta Civil Hospital as One Twin Newborn Goes Missing After Birth
QUETTA – A disturbing case of alleged negligence has surfaced at Civil Hospital Quetta, where a family claims one of their newborn twins went missing following a Caesarean section, despite ultrasound and hospital records confirming a twin pregnancy.
According to the babies’ father, Shehzad, his wife Nageena Begum was admitted to the hospital’s gynecology ward on Sunday night and underwent a C-section . The family said she was carrying twins, but hospital staff handed over only one newborn after the operation .
“We were informed through ultrasound reports that there were two babies. The hospital report also mentioned twins, and a private hospital had independently confirmed the presence of two babies,” said Shehzad Ali, the woman’s brother-in-law . The family produced an obstetrical ultrasound report showing a twin pregnancy at approximately 34 weeks and six days, with positive fetal heartbeats recorded for both fetuses .
Shehzad alleged that doctors at Civil Hospital had failed to provide any information about the whereabouts of the second baby. He has appealed to authorities to conduct a transparent investigation and take action against those responsible .
Hospital Forms Inquiry Committee
Taking notice of the incident, Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Abdul Hadi Kakar confirmed that an inquiry committee has been constituted to investigate the matter . He stated that the family would be informed of the findings once the investigation is completed .
The incident has raised serious concerns about security and accountability in public healthcare facilities in the province. The family has demanded that all facts regarding the second newborn be brought to light .
