PTI Cancels Karachi Rally After Permission Denied

KARACHI:The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has cancelled its planned rally on Shahrah-e-Quaidin in Karachi after the district administration refused to grant permission for the gathering.
On Sunday, the East District administration announced that the ban on rallies around Shahrah-e-Quaidin and Mazar-e-Quaid would remain in place.
The Deputy Commissioner said that no rally, procession or public gathering would be permitted in the vicinity of Mazar-e-Quaid. He warned that legal action would be taken if a gathering was held despite the denial of permission.
He further stated that under the law protecting the sanctity of Mazar-e-Quaid, rallies, demonstrations and processions are prohibited within the premises of the mausoleum.
Meanwhile, Karachi Police contacted PTI leaders and advised them to change their route for travelling towards Shahrah-e-Quaidin.
According to traffic police, New M.A. Jinnah Road and Corridor-III have been closed to traffic. Both carriageways of M.A. Jinnah Road, the road from Gurumandir to Numaish Chowrangi, and the road from Seven Day Hospital to Numaish Chowrangi have also been closed.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has arrived in Karachi. He reached the city accompanied by PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh.
