Who Is Major General Faisal Naseer, Appointed NACTA National Coordinator?

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Major General Faisal Naseer as the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) for a period of three years.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, Major General Faisal Naseer has been appointed on deputation for three years with the approval of the federal government.

Major General Faisal Naseer was promoted to the rank of major general in 2022. He was commissioned into the Punjab Regiment of the Pakistan Army and moved to the Corps of Military Intelligence early in his career.

He served twice in Balochistan during his military career and spent a significant part of his service dealing with security and intelligence affairs. He also played key roles in counterterrorism and law-and-order operations in Balochistan and Karachi.

After his promotion to major general in July 2022, Faisal Naseer was appointed Director General Counter Intelligence (DG-CI) at Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), where he was responsible for matters relating to internal security and counterintelligence.

He has also been awarded military honours, including the Tamgha-e-Basalat and Hilal-e-Shujaat, in recognition of his services.

Meanwhile, the Establishment Division issued several other notifications regarding transfers and appointments in the federal government.

Grade-21 Secretariat Group officer Muhammad Riazuddin Khan, who was serving as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Establishment Division, has been appointed Executive Director at State Life Insurance Corporation.

The contract of Federal IT Secretary Zarrar Hasham Khan has been extended for one year with effect from September 4, 2026. The appointment of Prime Minister’s Office Joint Secretary Jahangir Mushtaq has also been extended for one year.

The services of Grade-20 Police Service officer Naveed Ahmed Nisar Khawaja, who was awaiting appointment, have been placed at the disposal of the Frontier Constabulary, while the services of Grade-20 officer Muhammad Karim Khan have been entrusted to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The services of Grade-19 Police Service officer Ahsan Saifullah have been placed at the disposal of the Punjab government, while Grade-20 officer Imran Javed has been granted 14 days of leave abroad.
