Key Meeting at GHQ Emphasizes Strengthening Pakistan–Türkiye Defense Partnership

**Islamabad:** Türkiye’s Chief of the General Staff, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today. Upon his arrival at GHQ, the Turkish military chief was accorded a guard of honour by the Pakistan Army.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional and global security dynamics, and avenues to further enhance defence and military cooperation between the two countries. Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Türkiye relations and stressed the importance of close coordination and expanded defence collaboration.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the historic ties and strong people-to-people relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, and appreciated the continued cooperation of the Turkish Armed Forces. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral military relations.
General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu thanked the Pakistan Army for the warm reception and praised its professionalism. He also reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to deepening defence cooperation, including training, joint military exercises, and capacity-building initiatives.
The visit reflects the growing strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye and their shared commitment to peace, stability, and security in the region.
