Balochistan Chief Secretary Orders Action Against Absentee Employees
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan has directed all administrative secretaries to ensure the regular and timely attendance of officers and staff in their respective departments and initiate legal action against absentee employees.
He issued these directives while presiding over an important meeting of the Secretaries Committee, which was attended by all administrative secretaries and divisional commissioners through video link.
The meeting reviewed administrative performance across the province, development projects, attendance in government offices, vacant posts and the provision of public services. The issue of government vehicles in various departments was also discussed.
Officials reviewed the condition of government vehicles and identified those that were no longer usable. The chief secretary directed the authorities to examine the process of condemning or auctioning such vehicles in accordance with rules and regulations to ensure the effective and transparent use of public resources.
The meeting also considered details of vacant posts, pending promotions and initial recruitment in different departments. It was emphasized that all matters relating to vacancies, promotions and recruitment must be handled strictly according to rules, merit and transparency so that departmental performance is not affected.
Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan directed the relevant authorities to ensure implementation of the meeting’s decisions within the stipulated time.
He instructed all secretaries to establish an effective attendance monitoring system in their attached departments and ensure the regular presence of employees. He said responsible supervision and legal action against absentee staff would improve transparency in public services and strengthen public confidence.
The chief secretary further directed all secretaries to immediately appoint Principal Information Officers in their respective departments, noting that citizens have the right to access information under the Right to Information law.
He said the appointment of Principal Information Officers would help ensure the timely disposal of information requests and promote transparency, accountability and public trust in government affairs.
The secretaries were also instructed to make the websites of their departments fully functional and regularly update them with the latest news, announcements and details of public services. He said active websites would enable citizens to access important information more easily and improve transparency.
Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan expressed his resolve to continue effective measures for improving the performance of provincial departments, ensuring administrative transparency, promoting merit-based recruitment and providing better public services.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation status of directives issued during the previous session.
