Imposed Faces Are Not Representatives but Agents of the Establishment: JUI
QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Quetta leaders have criticized the government’s handling of the security situation, saying that blaming ordinary citizens for the failure to arrest terrorists and criminals is an admission of administrative incompetence.
In a joint statement, JUI Quetta leaders, including district chief Maulana Abdul Rahman Rafiq, General Secretary Haji Ainullah Shams and other office-bearers, said that the individuals “imposed” on the people were not genuine public representatives but “agents and messengers of the establishment.”
They alleged that the group brought to power through Form 47 had become increasingly confused because of its political and administrative failures.
The JUI leaders said that shifting the blame for the failure to apprehend terrorists and criminal elements onto ordinary and innocent citizens was a clear admission of the government’s serious administrative failure and incompetence.
They stressed that the purpose of state power was not to frighten, threaten or oppress citizens, but to protect their lives, property, dignity and fundamental rights.
The leaders said peace and order could not be established through threats, coercion, excessive use of force or what they described as an autocratic style of governance.
They said people were suffering from insecurity, terrorism and lawlessness, while the authorities were allegedly increasing the difficulties faced by citizens instead of providing relief and bringing perpetrators to justice.
The JUI leaders demanded that the government fulfill its constitutional and administrative responsibilities and take effective and indiscriminate action against those actually responsible for terrorism and crime.
They also called for an immediate end to the harassment of innocent citizens and urged the government to make the protection of people’s lives and property its top priority.
