Western Winds Enter Pakistan, New Spell of Rain Expected From Today

Islamabad: A new weather system has entered Pakistan as western winds have moved into the country, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting rain in several parts of the country from today.

According to the Meteorological Department, the final spell of monsoon rains is expected to begin after noon today. Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas may receive heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

Rain is also expected in Murree, the Galiyat region, Kashmir and the upper areas of Gilgit-Baltistan. The rainfall is likely to make the weather colder and cooler in the upper regions.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy rain has been forecast for Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, Peshawar, Nowshera, Abbottabad and Mansehra.

Several areas of Punjab, including Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Sialkot and Gujrat, may also experience rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, most districts of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain hot, although partly cloudy weather may prevail in coastal areas.

The Meteorological Department has warned that the current spell of rain may continue until September 6, with a risk of landslides in upper and mountainous areas during the period.
