Karachi Violence Case: Victims Reportedly Threatened, Family Pressured for Settlement

Karachi:A family whose brother and sister were allegedly subjected to violence in Karachi’s Defence area has reportedly faced threats and pressure to reach a settlement, according to the latest developments in the case.

The affected family has moved their belongings from their apartment in Khayaban-e-Bukhari to another location, while the DIG South has summoned both parties to his office today.

Authorities have also decided to conduct a forensic examination of the video that surfaced in connection with the incident. Police officers seen in the footage have also been summoned to the police station for questioning.

The video reportedly shows the alleged assailant, a woman holding dumbbells in both hands, coming down the stairs alongside uniformed police officers and repeatedly striking a woman standing outside the apartment with a dumbbell.

According to the footage, when the victims attempted to resist, the police officers allegedly intervened to restrain the victims instead. A man in plain clothes also allegedly took an official firearm from a police officer and broke a CCTV camera.

The woman who was allegedly subjected to violence said she lives with her mother and brother. She alleged that an influential woman not only assaulted them but also had both siblings arrested and a case registered against them.

The siblings were subsequently granted bail within a few days, she said.

The latest developments have prompted authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the conduct of the police personnel visible in the video.
