Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik Holds Separate Meetings with OICCI and PSO Leadership in Karachi

KARACHI: Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik held separate meetings with the leadership of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) in Karachi, where key issues related to energy security, investment opportunities and ongoing reforms in the petroleum sector were discussed.

The OICCI meeting was attended by representatives of the industrial sector, foreign investors and prominent media representatives.

Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government was working to develop a competitive and investment-friendly petroleum sector aligned with the country’s long-term energy requirements. He said reforms were underway in exploration, refining and downstream markets.

The minister said bonded storage facilities and strategic petroleum reserves were part of the government’s measures to strengthen energy security.

The OICCI emphasized that continuity and transparency in the policy and tax framework, along with security, were essential to strengthening investor confidence. It said continued dialogue between the government and industry could help resolve practical challenges and promote investment.

The OICCI president said stability and continuity in the regulatory and commercial environment were essential for attracting foreign investment.

During the meeting with PSO leadership, discussions focused on national energy security, supply chains and strategic storage. The petroleum minister appreciated PSO’s efforts to ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply across the country.

Ali Pervaiz Malik stressed the need to enhance strategic storage capacity and further strengthen the fuel supply chain. He also called for greater use of digital technologies to improve efficiency and ensure timely responses in the petroleum sector.
