Karachi Hospital Under Scrutiny After Family Told No Baby Was Found During C-Section
KARACHI:A bizarre and deeply distressing incident has reportedly occurred at a private hospital in Karachi, where a woman underwent a delivery procedure but her husband and family were allegedly told by the hospital administration that “nothing had happened.”
The affected family has accused the hospital administration and female doctors of serious medical negligence, alleging that they were misled by medical reports throughout the woman’s nine-month pregnancy.
According to the family, the woman underwent regular ultrasound examinations at the hospital throughout her pregnancy. Doctors reportedly continued to inform the family about the baby’s health and development and eventually also disclosed the baby’s gender.
However, when the woman reached the 37th week of pregnancy and was taken for a Caesarean section (C-section), the family claims that doctors allegedly informed them during the procedure that no baby had been found in the woman’s abdomen.
The development reportedly left the woman’s husband and family devastated, while panic and distress spread inside the hospital.
Following the incident, the family raised serious questions about the medical assessments conducted by the hospital administration, the concerned radiologist and other doctors.
Medical experts have reportedly said that even if the hospital’s claim is accepted, a baby’s heartbeat and development should ordinarily be visible during ultrasound examinations. They described the alleged failure to detect the actual condition over such an extended period as a matter requiring serious investigation.
The affected family has appealed to the Sindh Health Department and senior authorities to conduct an impartial review of all ultrasound reports, the patient’s medical history and the operation notes.
The family has also demanded a transparent investigation and strict legal action against anyone found responsible for negligence or professional misconduct.
