Quetta:Hooran Baloch, the research coordinator for Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), spoke out against the alleged assault and violence by police officers towards women during a rally for the recovery of disappeared persons in Quetta. She accused the officers of harassing women, tearing their veils, and physically assaulting her, including breaking her left hand. In response, she filed a First Information Report (FIR) under section 22A in the Session Court of Quetta against the police officers involved, including several other women who were subjected to violence.
On Friday, July 26, 2024, the Session Court responded to her request by issuing orders to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sariab Road Police Station to register the FIR against the accused police officers. Hooran Baloch expressed her satisfaction with this legal action, stating that they have always advocated for peaceful struggle and have now achieved their first success by holding the police accountable through the FIR.
She further thanked her entire legal team for their support in fighting for truth and justice, standing with every Baloch woman, and striving to ensure fairness by successfully getting her FIR registered against the police officers. During the filing of the FIR against the police, heavy contingents of police personnel arrived at the Sariab Road Police Station to arrest her, but her lawyers had already secured her interim bail, preventing her arrest.
