Western Winds Bring Rain to Pakistan, First Winter Showers in Northern Balochistan
Islamabad: Western winds carrying rainfall have entered Pakistan, bringing the first winter showers to northern Balochistan, leading to a drop in temperatures. The mountain regions are expected to experience snowfall from November 29 to December 2.
According to reports, heavy rainfall has inundated low-lying areas in regions including Gulistan, Shelabagh, Toba Kakari, Pishin, Khanuzai, Barshur, Kan Mehtarzai, Toba Achakzai, Chaman, and areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. These areas are under the influence of a rain-bringing weather system.
The Pakistan-Afghanistan border regions are experiencing significant rainfall, while light showers and drizzle are expected in Islamabad, Murree, Galyat, and the Pothohar region from today until December 2.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department reports that air quality has improved in Punjab. However, the situation remains severe in polluted cities like Multan, which topped the list today with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 272. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa follows closely with an AQI of 203, and Lahore ranks third with an AQI of 216.
Further light to moderate rainfall is also forecast for cities like Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, and Sargodha. Following the rain, a reduction in air pollution levels is expected in Punjab’s cities.
