Weather Update: Intermittent Rain Spells Expected in December
Islamabad:According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the country is expected to experience three spells of intermittent rainfall in December. Dr. Irfan Wark, Deputy Director of Weather Forecasting, shared this information during a conversation with a private TV channel. He mentioned that the first spell of rain is likely to begin in the next 3-4 days, impacting various parts of the country.
Dr. Irfan Wark stated that rain is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, while some areas in northeastern Punjab and southern Punjab may also receive rainfall. Additionally, Islamabad and Rawalpindi are forecast to experience rain, which will lead to a further drop in temperatures.
He also mentioned that a second spell of rain will begin around mid-December, but the intensity of rainfall towards the end of the month is yet to be determined.
In terms of today’s weather, Islamabad and its surrounding areas are expected to remain cold and dry. Meanwhile, dense fog will persist in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Hafizabad, and Narowal, as well as in Gujranwala, Gujarat, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, and Faisalabad. Foggy conditions are also expected in Okara, Jhang, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rahim Yar Khan.
The weather in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is predicted to remain dry and cold, with severe cold expected in the northern regions. In Sindh, most areas will experience dry weather, though fog and smog may affect Sukkur, Kashmore, and Jacobabad. Similarly, the weather in most parts of Balochistan will remain cold and dry.
In the past 24 hours, the weather in most parts of the country has remained cold and dry.

The continuation of these weather patterns is expected to bring further drops in temperature, particularly in northern and central areas of the country.
