Weather Forecast: Monsoon Rains Expected Across Pakistan from August 14 to 18
Islamabad:The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that the country will experience monsoon rains with thunderstorms from August 14 to 18. The department anticipates that monsoon winds will enter the upper and central regions of Pakistan, leading to a four-day period of storms and rain.
According to the PMD, the coastal areas of Sindh are expected to see partly cloudy skies with light rain. In Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other parts of Punjab, monsoon rains are anticipated to continue during this period. Areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Chakwal, Gujrat, and Gujranwala are likely to experience heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. Other regions including Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, and Pakpattan are also expected to see rain.
The PMD further predicts thunderstorms and rain in Kasur, Khushab, and Sargodha. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain with thunderstorms is anticipated from August 14 to 18. Areas such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Bajaur, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan are likely to see rainfall.
Additionally, from August 15 to 18, rain is expected in parts of Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. The PMD has previously indicated that this year’s monsoon season in Pakistan is expected to be warmer than usual. Experts have warned that Pakistan, along with other countries, may experience more severe and unusual weather patterns due to climate change.
