Weather Forecast: Cold Conditions Continue Across Pakistan, Snowfall Expected in Northern Areas
Islamabad:The **Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD)** has forecasted that most parts of the country will experience cold weather today, with **severe cold conditions** expected in the mountainous regions.
According to the PMD, light rain and snowfall are expected in parts of **upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa**, **Azad Jammu and Kashmir**, and **Gilgit-Baltistan** in the evening or night. While the weather will remain cold across most of the country, the **hilly areas** are likely to experience **extreme cold** conditions.
The weather department reported that in the past 24 hours, the **minimum temperature** in **Skardu** was recorded at **minus 7°C**, while **Gilgit** recorded **minus 6°C**, and **Astore**, **Hunza**, and **Quetta** recorded **minus 4°C**.
The PMD also reported that the following cities recorded the minimum temperatures yesterday:
– **Islamabad**: 0°C
– **Peshawar** and **Muzaffarabad**: 2°C
– **Lahore**, **Sargodha**, **Mohenjo Daro**, and **Dera Ismail Khan**: 5°C
– **Multan**, **Bahawalpur**, and **Sukkur**: 6°C
– **Karachi**: 11°C
The department has advised citizens to take necessary precautions, especially in the northern regions where snow and freezing temperatures are expected to continue, and to be prepared for the ongoing cold wave.
