Weather Department Warns of Heatwave Across Sindh, Southern Punjab, and Balochistan Starting Today

Islamabad:According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the regions of Sindh, Southern Punjab, and Balochistan will experience a heatwave starting today, with temperatures expected to rise significantly.

The department has forecast that from today until April 18, the day-time temperature is likely to be 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above the normal average in these areas.

Meanwhile, in Islamabad, central and upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, temperatures are expected to rise by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius between Monday and Friday. The heatwave could also bring winds or dust storms during this period.

The meteorological department further reported that the highest temperature recorded yesterday in the country was 43°C in Nawabshah, Hyderabad, and Dadu. In other major cities, temperatures were recorded as follows: Karachi at 39°C, Bahawalpur and Dera Ismail Khan at 37°C, Lahore and Peshawar at 35°C, and Islamabad and Quetta at 33°C.
