Weather Department Predicts Pre-Monsoon System Affecting Eastern Sindh Starting Today Evening

The **Pakistan Meteorological Department** has predicted that a **pre-monsoon system** may affect the eastern regions of **Sindh** starting this evening. According to the forecast, **Friday** will see **severe heat and dry conditions** over most parts of Sindh. However, on **Saturday**, some areas of **Tharparkar** and **Umerkot** may experience **thunderstorms and rain** accompanied by strong winds.

On **Sunday**, rain and strong winds are expected in areas including **Ghotki**, **Sukkur**, **Jacobabad**, and nearby regions. Meanwhile, **Karachi** will continue to experience **severe heat and dry conditions**, with temperatures expected to range between **37 to 39°C** in the coming days. Meteorologists have warned that the **sea breeze** in Karachi and coastal areas may remain disrupted for several days.

This disruption is linked to the **high-pressure system** over **Gujarat, India**, and the presence of **western weather systems**, which could lead to an increase in **heat intensity** in Karachi.

On **Friday**, during the ongoing heatwave in **Lahore**, temperatures reached **44°C**, with the **heat index** feeling like **47°C**. The Meteorological Department attributed this extreme weather to the prolonged **dry spell** between **May and June**.

Most districts in **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa** also continued to experience the intensity of the heatwave. In **Peshawar**, the temperature was recorded at **40°C**, with forecasts indicating it could rise to **44°C** in the coming days. The **humidity level** in the provincial capital was recorded at **52%**.

According to the weather department, the temperature in these areas is **6 to 7°C** higher than the average. In **Dera Ismail Khan** and **Bannu**, the temperature soared to **47°C**. The department has also predicted light rain in **Peshawar** and other districts of **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa** from **Friday** onwards.

In **Cholistan** and surrounding areas, temperatures reached nearly **48°C**, and the department forecasts that **southern Punjab** will continue to experience **extreme heat** for the next two days.

Reports from affected areas indicate that water supplies in desert regions have dried up, causing significant difficulties for **livestock**. Many wells have gone dry, and the extreme heat has led to the death of animals and forced the local population to **migrate** in search of better living conditions.
