Virat Kohli Slams Indian Cricket Board Over Family Protocols During Tours

Mumbai:Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has voiced his frustration with the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) over the restrictions on family presence during international tours. According to reports from Indian media, Kohli expressed his disappointment with the limitations imposed on players spending time with their families while on tour.

Kohli, in an emotional statement, stated that no player would want to be alone and feel distressed, especially after a poor performance. “You can’t just sit alone and be sad after a bad performance on tour,” Kohli said. “I want to stay normal, focus on my game, and continue working on improving. Spending time with family during such times is crucial for mental well-being.”

He further emphasized that if any player were asked about having their family with them, the answer would undoubtedly be ‘yes.’ “I would never want to miss the opportunity to spend time with my family, especially after a stressful period. Coming together with family after such tension is important, and I don’t think people understand that,” he added.

This criticism comes after the Indian Cricket Board issued new guidelines following the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, limiting the time players can spend with their families during long tours. According to the BCCI’s decision, players on a 45-day tour will only be allowed to have their families with them for a period of up to 14 days.

Kohli’s remarks have sparked discussions on the importance of mental health and family support for players during the demanding schedule of international cricket.
