Birmingham:Former captain of the Pakistani cricket team and all-rounder Shahid Afridi has become the center of attention after a video surfaced showing him being subjected to verbal abuse in Birmingham.
In the viral footage, Afridi is seen exiting a shop when a group of people gathers around him, some of whom begin chanting derogatory slogans. The incident has sparked various reactions from viewers, with criticisms aimed at those involved in the verbal attack.
Furqan Warriach, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), criticized the video, claiming it was the work of a lone individual from afar who verbally abused Afridi, while others expressed admiration for the cricketer. They highlighted Afridi’s positive contributions and condemned the inappropriate behavior displayed towards him.
Mohammed Ayan underscored that while Afridi may face political differences, chanting derogatory slogans against him is highly inappropriate. Many fans have also voiced their support for Afridi, emphasizing his role as a national hero representing Pakistan in Birmingham during the Champions League matches.
Shahid Afridi is currently in the UK for the Champions League tournament, where Pakistan’s team has performed admirably, winning all four matches and advancing to the semifinals.
