US State Department Condemns Attacks in Pakistan, Supports Peaceful Protest
Islamabad:In a press briefing on May 9th, Washington’s State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, expressed strong condemnation regarding recent violent incidents in Pakistan. Miller emphasized that the Pakistani people have suffered greatly at the hands of terrorists and underscored the joint interest in addressing regional security threats. He highlighted collaborative efforts with multiple Pakistani civilian institutions.
Regarding the May 9th attacks, Miller stated unequivocal support for freedom of expression but condemned violent actions. He stressed that protests should be conducted peacefully, urging governments to uphold the rule of law and respect for freedom of expression.
Miller further affirmed the United States’ commitment to enhancing cooperation with the Pakistani government consistently, aiming to bolster regional stability and security.
