Gujrat:Unknown assailants have reportedly abducted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member of National Assembly Imtiaz Chaudhry from the custody of an Anti-Corruption team.
According to Circle Officer Anti-Corruption Aftab Haider, the incident occurred on Shadiwal Road in Gujrat, where unidentified gunmen fired upon the Anti-Corruption team’s vehicle, which was transporting Imtiaz Chaudhry to court. The assailants managed to escape with Chaudhry.
The Anti-Corruption team was en route to Mansehra to present Chaudhry before the court. The team had previously secured Chaudhry’s physical remand after his arrest. He was being transported for a subsequent appearance before the Civil Judge’s court.
It is noted that the Anti-Corruption authorities had arrested Imtiaz Chaudhry from his residence on July 25, on allegations of receiving kickbacks from development schemes.
