Unauthorized Restrictions by Sindh Police on Quetta-Coaches and Vans Cause Distress Among Balochistan Travellers
Khuzdar:The imposition of unauthorized restrictions by Sindh Police on all passenger coaches and vans traveling from Balochistan, including Khuzdar and Quetta, to Karachi’s Lea Market and Saddar has been condemned as regrettable. This hostile approach by Sindh Police has subjected thousands of daily commuters to severe hardships for over a year.
Passenger coaches and van operators from Khuzdar and Quetta have faced helplessness in front of Sindh Police and witnessed passengers left stranded and helpless at bus stops within Karachi. During late-night hours, travelers are exposed to risks of theft and robbery due to the darkness, with incidents of cash and mobile phone snatching becoming commonplace.
The biased conduct of Sindh Police towards Balochistan’s coaches and van operators has forced passengers into desolate conditions, leading to protests of frustration and helplessness. The government of Sindh, under the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), is urged to empathize with the people of Balochistan and immediately lift the unwarranted restrictions imposed on their transporters by Sindh Police.
Transporters, van owners, and political and social circles in Balochistan have called upon President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sardar Faraz Bugti, former Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, IG Sindh Police, and other authorities to intervene swiftly. They demand the withdrawal of Sindh Police’s restrictions and issuance of directives allowing Balochistan’s passenger coaches unrestricted entry into Karachi’s safe and essential markets. This step aims to alleviate the distress and discomfort faced by travelers arriving from Balochistan and put an end to the prolonged suffering endured during travel between Sindh and Balochistan.
