UK’s Transport Department Team Arrives for Safety Audit to Facilitate Restoration of Pakistani Airlines Flights

Karachi:A seven-member team from the UK Department of Transport has arrived in Karachi for a safety audit of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) as part of efforts to restore Pakistani airlines’ flights to the United Kingdom.*
Upon their arrival at the PCAA headquarters, Director General A.A. Nadeem Shafi Dar welcomed the British team and provided an initial briefing. The UK Department of Transport team will conduct a safety audit of various departments including licensing, airworthiness, and flight standards from January 27 to February 6.
According to aviation sources, if the audit is successful, the ban on Pakistani airlines, including the national carrier, which has been in place since 2020, will be lifted. PCAA officials have stated that all necessary safety measures related to flight safety have already been implemented.
The audit by the UK Department of Transport is considered a formal procedure, and PCAA authorities are hopeful that, following the audit, Pakistani airlines will be granted permission to resume flights to the UK by March. In preparation for the audit, PCAA has instructed its employees to report to work on the weekend, even on Saturdays, to ensure smooth operations.
