Dubai, UAE — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has decided to implement stringent measures against those spreading false information and propaganda against the Pakistani Army. The Consul General of the UAE in Karachi announced that residents of the UAE and other Gulf countries need to remain vigilant, as misinformation about their own country and institutions on social media will not be tolerated.
The Consul General emphasized that individuals engaging in such activities will face immediate and severe repercussions. Recent actions include life sentences for 4 to 5 individuals, 14-year prison terms for 10 to 15 people, and deportations for several others. The Consul General also warned that any social media activity, including likes and shares, is recorded and may affect future visa applications.
This move reflects the UAE’s commitment to maintaining stringent control over the dissemination of false information and ensuring that its residents adhere to local regulations regarding social media conduct.
