United Arab Emirates: Atiq Al-Rumeithi, the Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Karachi, has announced a crackdown on individuals spreading negative propaganda against Pakistan’s institutions or politicians while residing in the UAE. Al-Rumeithi highlighted that strict measures, including visa restrictions, are being implemented against those involved in such activities.
He warned Pakistani residents in the Gulf countries and the UAE to be cautious, emphasizing that spreading misinformation or creating a negative impression about their own country or institutions on social media is strictly prohibited. Offenders may face severe consequences, including life imprisonment. Al-Rumeithi reported that some individuals have already received prison sentences of up to 15 years, while others have been deported.
The Consul General also noted that any content shared or liked on social media will be recorded, and those with a problematic record may face difficulties obtaining a UAE visa in the future.
