Islamabad: U.S. Ambassador Donald Bloom met with Minister of State for Border Affairs Amir Maqam to commend Pakistan for its long-standing tradition of hosting Afghan refugees. The meeting underscored America’s commitment to continue collaborating with Pakistan in supporting refugees.
U.S. Mission spokesperson Jonathan Lally reported that the meeting focused on the joint efforts of the U.S. and Pakistan to aid Afghan refugees and the Pakistani communities residing in border areas. Ambassador Bloom expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s recent decision to extend the validity of refugee registration cards, calling it a positive step.
Lally highlighted that the U.S. values Pakistan’s ongoing support in facilitating the safe and effective resettlement of Afghan refugees in the United States and praised Pakistan’s proactive measures to address concerns related to the protection of Afghan nationals.
