Transferring Funds for Merged Districts to KP Government Is Violation of Constitution and Law: Barrister Saif

Peshawar: Barrister Saif, the Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), has stated that withholding funds for the merged districts is a clear violation of the Constitution and law. The federal government has yet to respond to a letter sent by the KP Chief Minister regarding this matter.
In his statement, Barrister Saif emphasized that despite the letter from KP’s Chief Minister requesting the transfer of funds for the merged districts, no response has been received from the federal government. The letter specifically called for the funds, post-merger, to be allocated to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He pointed out that following the merger, the tribal districts are now officially part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and thus, the funds meant for these areas should be transferred to the provincial government.
Barrister Saif further stressed that it is crucial to stabilize the merged districts economically in order to curb terrorism. He noted that terrorism is a nationwide issue, not confined to a single province.
The Adviser to the Chief Minister also criticized the federal government for withholding the funds, hindering the development of the merged districts, and depriving the provincial government of the necessary resources to aid in the region’s growth.
He highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the KP government is paying special attention to the merged districts, focusing on education, healthcare, and infrastructure development—key areas that require immediate attention.
