Tragic Bus Incident in Turbat Prompts Call for Boycott Against Al-Ibrar Transport Company
Turbat:In the wake of a devastating bus incident near Wasak, Turbat on May 29th, where 29 lives were tragically lost, families of the deceased and injured held a joint press conference at the Turbat Press Club. The incident claimed the lives of two professors from Turbat University, including the active social worker, Dervish Aziz, who was dedicated to providing free education to underprivileged children through his organization.
Dr. Ayub Baloch, a BRSC employee, also perished along with two students from Makran Medical College and passengers from various districts of Balochistan and Sindh. Several passengers sustained injuries, including those from Turbat and other regions. Criticizing the district administration’s negligence, they accused it of failing to prevent such accidents, which have become commonplace.
Following the incident, affected families gathered to mourn their loved ones. Some members approached local parties and civil society organizations to voice their dissatisfaction with the administration’s response. Commissioner Makran issued a letter promising action, but families demanded accountability and justice.
The affected families called for a boycott of Al-Ibrar Transport Company, blaming it for the incident due to its reckless operations. They demanded the district administration take strict action against the company and ensure compensation for the families of the deceased and injured. They also urged stringent measures to regulate bus speeds and ensure the safety of passengers and communities.
The press conference was attended by a wide array of political and social leaders, including Kamran Gichki from the Kech Bar Association, Maulana Abdul Hafiz Mengal from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, and Maulana Yaqoob, among others. Their unified call for justice and safety resonated with the public, highlighting the need for immediate action to prevent future tragedies and hold accountable those responsible for this heartbreaking incident.
