Quetta:In a shocking incident in the Panjgur district of Balochistan, seven laborers were brutally killed by militants from the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The attack occurred on Saturday night in the Khudabad area, where the workers were residing in a house.
According to local police, the assailants stormed the house around 9:30 PM and opened fire indiscriminately. Six laborers died at the scene, while two others were critically injured and later succumbed to their wounds at the Panjgur Civil Hospital.
The victims, identified as Sajid, Fayyaz, Khalid, Shafique, Iftikhar Ahmed, Salman, Allah Wasaya, and Muhammad Ramzan, hailed from the Shujaabad region of Multan Division in Punjab. One of the injured individuals has been named Bilal.
District Police Officer (DPO) Fazil Bukhari confirmed that the deceased were involved in construction work in the area and emphasized that investigations are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident, urging the Balochistan government to submit a report. He emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism from the region and instructed officials to take all necessary actions to bring the criminals to justice.
President Arif Alvi and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the attack, expressing their condolences to the families of the victims and reiterating the need for effective measures against such acts of violence.
This incident underscores the ongoing challenges of security and the need for a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism in Balochistan and across Pakistan.
